The “Cru de Cambremer” (“Vintage Cambremer”) Cider Route was the first trail to be created in France on the initiative of producers keen to promote their products’ quality and their warm hospitality.
In recognition of this high quality cider-making tradition, in 2014 the area of Cambremer was awarded the label:
« Site Remarquable du Goût » – remarkable site for taste
This trademark (managed by a national federation), which is endorsed by four national ministries, recognises territories offering:
- an iconic food product
- a distinctive architectural and natural heritage
- quality hospitality
Affiliated members endeavour to provide quality products and services. Your visit to members guarantees you will meet people who:
- have acquired sound knowledge of cider produce, and of the Cambremer area’s rich architectural, historical and environmental heritage.
- are committed to providing a warm welcome
The Cambremer Cider label “Site Remarquable du gout” is based on the following:
1- An iconic product: cider, and various apple products – Vintage Cambremer, AOC Pays d’Auge
2- A distinctive hilly landscape with apple orchards
3- Traditional know-how
4- Remarkable architecture featuring half-timbered houses
5- An eco-friendly industry
6- Expertise in cider production. Awarded AOP label in 1996.
7- Local inhabitants’ pride in their region
8- Active village life with its local markets and fayres, such as the AOP Festival and Cider Festival
9- A first-class tourist service (cf Cambremer Tourist Office website)
10- A local association protecting the authenticity of the region’s assets
