We are not a hotel...

To come to a guest house or self-catering cottage is first of all to look for a unique atmosphere; it is the quality of a simple, respectful and warm contact with others which is our foremost consideration, as within a family.

"Les Marronniers" have opened their guest house for more than 18 years.  We hope to transmit our passion for guest houses, our estate and the region; if you see a lack of any sort, please help us by reporting it.

We hope, by welcoming you into our house, that you will feel it is a little yours… that your stay will leave you many memories of agreeable moments spent around the breakfast table; in your cosy bedroom; in the park with a good book; playing with your children in the forest, the garden or the meadow; or enjoying a magnificent sunset over the Dives valley…

Coming to a guest house also means exchanging ideas about life in general; do talk to us about your region, your way of life, gardening, the latest book you enjoyed, a feeling… that is why we chose to open up our house, so it would be lively!

Throughout your stay, we are at your disposal to listen to you, to provide information and advice, to help you spend the most agreeable holiday possible.  

Les Marronniers are located in the heart of the Country of Auge ("pays d'Auge" - Calvados - Normandy), which gives you a unique opportunity to discover the riches of our area, to meet its inhabitants and of course to taste the wide range of excellent regional produce (cider tour - calvados).

A scenic land, with typical architecture and extremely diverse sightseeing, from the sea to the hilly countryside, the Calvados region offers a great diversity of places of interest.

From the Bessin area, with its famous landing beaches, to the Country of Auge, land of the half-timbered manor houses and of the horses, in the area of Lisieux, with its Basilica and Saint Theresa, you will also discover the Swiss Normandy with its wild gorges and picturesque valleys, the bocage area around Vire, a land just made for forest walks and river fishing; the region of Caen and the Country of Falaise, cradle of Norman History and stronghold of William the Conqueror.

Beuvron en Auge

The property is located near the village of Cambremer, in a Manor House of character, formerly a 17th century farm.  The 5 guest rooms and « la bergerie » cottage are located in the quiet of a landscaped park, adjacent to a woodland of 60 acres and a vast meadow planted with fruit trees, especially old apple and pear trees, and hedged with remarkable old trees.  

You have access to the garden but also to the woodland and meadow, as well as the various playgrounds. Of course we advise you to be careful and watch your children closely.  There are three springs and small expanses of water in the woodland and some hives in the meadow. If you wish to have a walk in the forest, please wear suitable shoes (mud-proof) and we have a map of the paths at your disposal.

The village of Cambremer, in the heart of the Country of Auge, is located on the "Cider Route".

The domaine des Marronniers is located 4 km from the village. The country lanes are many; do not hesitate to explore them on foot, by bike or by car. An IGN map and some walking guides are available in the breakfast room. The GR65 hiking trail borders the property (chemin de la Capelette); you can easily walk to Beuvron en Auge.

The property is located between Lisieux (20 min) and Caen, less than 2 hours from Paris and Amiens. The beaches, the casinos and the race-courses of Deauville, Cabourg, are very near (22 km). The tourist towns and sites such as Beuvron en Auge (10mn), Honfleur (35 min), Caen (35 min), Rouen (1hr), Bayeux (45 min), le Mont-Saint-Michel (1hr 30 min), Etretat (1hr) and the landing beaches (45 min), are within very quick reach.

• Wish for peaceful stay in couple, in family or between friends: for a weekend or a stay, come to spend a big moment of relaxation for two, with your children ( 2 family suites), in widened family or between friends (5 rooms and a gite at your disposal) Normandy is often an ideal and " magic " place to meet and live unforgettable memories !

• Wish for ballads and for natural discoveries: leave by chance and for ballads on the small roads and the bucolic roads of the countryside of "pays d'Auge". Let be amazed by an environment always greens where apple trees in flowers are a unique show all along the road some cider. Normandy is an ideal place for a stay in the green, which proposes in particular gardens and "remarkable" classified parks, countryside and protected coastal zones. Wildlife parks also propose you unforgettable meetings.

• Wish for sports: numerous and magnificent golf, tennis, sites of water sports, racecourses and stud farm of Normandy are eternal one pleasures for the most demanding amateurs. If you like the shivers, you will find in Normandy several routes of accrobranche.

• Wish for well-being: thalassotherapy, fine sand beaches and swimming pools wait for you. And if you choose our suite Deauville, you will find sauna and balnéo privative in the room...

• Wish for discovery: Normandy is a wonderful place of tourism and history, and the ideas of visits are numerous so by the sea as in lands. Country of memory of the centuries for a journey in the heart of the history, on the castle of William the Conqueror or the landing beaches. Its villages knew how to keep all their authenticity and you will discover it not only typical and magnificent architectures, but also active and welcoming places of life, just like its markets. some of the main spots to visit
